Two Minutes of Hate

For this week ESPN The Magazine decided to run with the following cover:


You are looking at the face of a man who was born in America. Grew up in America. Went to high school prom in America. He also plays on the Italy national team. Our very own modern day Benedict Arnold bitch. It was painful enough to watch him seal the game against USA in last summer's Confederations Cup, but at least America got the last laugh as we were the one's who advanced to the Confed Cup final. But now, seemingly just to coarsely rub a rusty piece of salted carbon steel on the wound, ESPN has decided that a month prior to the World Cup a picture of Rossi himself holding a symbol of America, while wearing an Italian jersey, with the same antagonistic look that Daniele De Rossi (pictured on right) had after he bludgeoned American hero Brian McBride's face in 4 years ago on the world's biggest stage, would be a good idea.
