The Chicago Blackhawks have taken a commanding 2 games to 0 lead over the underdog Philadelphia Flyers.
In Game 1 Chicago overtook Philadelphia in a barnburner on the ice 6-5. Monday night's Game 2 was far different has Chicago's goalie, Antti Niemi stopped 32 of 33 Flyer shots for a 2-1 Chicago win. Scoring for Chicago were Marian Hossa and Ben Eager, both in the 2nd period.
Hossa has played for 3 diferent teams in the past 3 Stanley Cups, which is unheard of for a star of caliber. In '08 Hossa was a part of the young, upstart Pittsburgh Penguins who were defeated by the Detroit Red Wings in 6 games. The next season Hossa decided to sign a 1 year contract with the very same Red Wings who dispatched of him in the Finals. Hossa and the Red Wings got back to the Stanley Cup Finals against (hmmm...irony?) the Pittsburgh Penguins. This time the Penguins beat the Red Wings in 7 games, preventing Hossa from hoisting the Stanley Cup. That karma sure is a...well you know what it is. This past offseason, the 30 year old Hossa signed a ludicrous 12 year, $62.8 million deal with Chicago. Perhaps the third time is the charm.
